Five Steps to Reaching Your Goals

We all desire a better life, but not all of us have solid plans to achieve it. Having a positive attitude is half the battle in getting to where you want to be, but these five steps can help you reach your goals—use them to win:

Believe you can do it.
If you don’t think you can reach your full potential, then you never will. You have to have faith in yourself and your ability. Desire is an enormous part of any successful endeavor. It also doesn’t hurt to fall in love with what you do—whether it is starting a business, choosing a career or exercising for a healthy life.

Have a plan.
You can be successful in almost anything as long as you have a solid plan. Planning is the heart and soul of reaching goals. You don’t have to write them down, but that is an exceptionally smart idea. The act of composing your thoughts is an excellent exercise for developing an effective strategy.

Sleep on it!
At night, just before you go to bed, visualize the steps you will need to take, to achieve your goal. This will allow your subconscious to integrate the notion, and lets your imagination run through each step while in a subconscious state.

Scratch, kick and stay positive.
Is anything worth having easy to come by? Take exercise—if it was so simple, then everybody would look like a swimsuit model! Any dream worth having is worth fighting for, and at one time or another, you will be struggling to finish. And one other thing—you can expect a setback, or two. A good attitude will be needed to get through the rough times, so stay upbeat!

Never go to it alone.
You will need a lot of support—friends, family, or a network of like-minded people. Use whatever contacts you can get, and communicate with people who have had the same experiences. From starting a new business to training to run a marathon—there are groups that have been there before you; willing to impart their wisdom, and advise you of any traps.
